It is a long felt need of our Ashrmam to construct a proper Kuteera for the accommodation of the Principal Trustee, whenever he visits our Ashramam.
As you are all aware, Sri Tanmayananda Saraswathi Swamiji, the present Principal Trustee of our Ashramam normally resides in Tiruvannamalai and visits our Ashramam regularly. We have been periodically requesting him to spend more time in Hamsa Ashramam so that he can guide us in the affairs of the Ashramam and inspire us in our personal sadhana too. He has graciously consented for the proposal and has been visiting our ashram frequently. Now he is regularly staying and spending more time at the Ashramam in each month.
Unfortunately the accommodation presently available for his stay within the Ashrmam is not fit for long periods of stay at a time. It is our ardent desire and also our duty to ensure that his stay at the Ashramam is comfortable with all basic amenities.
This Kuteera will be useful for conducting Satsangs and Vedanta classes to small group of devotees. This would encourage more people to visit the Ashramam and have shastraic interactions with Sri Tanmayananda Swamiji, which will promote the spiritual activities at the Ashramam.
In the long term, these activities will augur well for Hamsa Ashramam and its intended purpose. Hence the need for the construction of a new Kuteera for his stay at the Hamsa Ashramam. Swami Tanmayanandaji has stressed that we should make the following point clear to all devotees: The New Kuteera will be the permanent place of residence to the person occupying the post of Principal Trustee of the Ashramam. It is meant for the occupation of the present Principal Trustee until he holds the office and then his successors. It is not person specific, but for the person occupying the post of Principal Trustee of the Ashram. It will remain an asset of the Ashramam.
In view of this, the Management Committee has decided to open a new Bank account at State Bank of India, Kelamangalam Branch, named “Hamsa Ashramam Buildings and Maintenance Fund ”. The Principal Trustee, all the Trustees and all Members of the Management Committee make a sincere appeal to all the devotees of Hamsa Ashramam to contribute generously to this project. This will certainly facilitate conducting Upanishad classes, Satsangs and spiritual retreats to guide sincere seekers. The Ashramam will be more vibrant with these activities, which were dear to our beloved Gurudev, Sri Virajeshwara Saraswati. As a gesture of his support and blessings, Sri Tanmayananda Saraswati Swamiji has agreed to contribute Rs, 1 lakh as the first donation to this cause.
The proposed plan of construction of the Kutira, as approved by Sri Swamiji is attached herewith. The basic cost of construction of the Kuteeram is estimated to be Rs. 12,09,600. Cost of Electrical fittings, furniture, water sump etc are extra. Total cost may come to around Rs.15 lakhs. Sri Praveen Raj, a local contractor known to our Members of the Management Committee has agreed to undertake the contract. As he is a local person with local resources, he is very cost effective.
We appeal one and all the devotees of Hamsa Ashramam to contribute whatever amount they can, big or small, as a token of their love to Sri Gurudev and Hamsa Ashramam. We ardently pray Sri Gurudev to make our sincere prayer a success and this proposal a reality as soon as possible and bless us.
